The 'Tea Fire' in Santa Barbara and Montecito, was caused by 10 students ranging in age from 18 to 22 years of age. No names were given out. The District Attorney is still investigating the devastating blaze. The kids are associated with a certain school in the area but officials did not state which one.
Well, it wasn't caused for the sake of evil. It was caused by pure negligence, ignorance, and stupidity. Yeah, I know no one is perfect and we all deserve forgiveness. My heart knows. But part of me sure would like to ask, "So, how does it feel to know you're responsible for half a billion dollars worth of homes burning to the ground?" or "There were 10 of you...t e n...ten. Out of the ten, not one of you had the presence of mind to not start a fire during a dry fire season in an area with so much burn fuel? Or not one of you could check to be absolutely sure the bonfire embers were completely out?"
It's almost easier to forgive the criminal and evil intention of arson than the mindless negligence of a whole group of college students.
I took a short drive into a small part of the area today and it's very strange. Where there were beautiful homes and landscaping with wild oak trees there is nothing. The road is all that you see. The brown dirt of the land, the hills, the ash, and nothing where everything else used to be.
