Dubya had his turn at pathetic, too. In Israel, celebrating the 60th anniversary of the country's 'birth', Bush said that Obama was an appeaser, then leveled a verbal shot at Iran. He reminds me of the attorney I saw make a toast at a legal assistant's birthday party. His toast was, "Here's to rape, robbery, and restitution!" A-hem...
If the US talks to Iran, do you think it is appeasement? Consider the fact that today's situation is much different. In the Middle East situation, it is not just one country that has a problem with Israel and the US. All radical Muslims do. You can find radical Muslims in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, most other countries in the Middle East, as well as in Africa and Indonesia. The Western image of a fight or struggle being between two countries does not translate accurately in the Middle East. The Muslim world is one of tribes, clans, and Islam. Borders are often ignored.
Even if it were a very close parallel of the Germany-Britain-France-Italy situation, I don't hear of anyone offering land. The US is occupying Iraq, and Israel is in what used to be Palestine. The borders of Israel extended to include more land in 1967, during the war in which Syria and Egypt attacked Israel. She fought back - and then some.
When you hear appeasement being thrown around like a dirty word, as the lunatic fringe has done with the word liberal, think again. Are you being propagandized by the media?
My son and I agreed that the 'media' only veils the actual truth with it's layers of bias, glitz, and appeal to the lowest instincts of the 'sheeple'. If you really want to learn the truth about a situation, you have to do a little searching for different sources. If you're not sure about what you've heard or read, keep investigating until you feel confident about the facts.
