Homeless: Streets of Santa Barbara

 Forever Bewitched

Elizabeth Montgomery was born this day, April 15, 1933, and we will be forever bewitched! Loving thoughts.

 Don't Give Up On Me

It can't be so!

I can't believe my ears!

In this most important election year, a few Americans are so fed up with the campaigning, they're saying they're not going to vote. Or much worse, vote for the other party's candidate!

I understand the feeling of frustration at hearing the silly comments from the candidates.  I'm to the point of turning off the news and the radio.  That's a hard choice for me, since I like to listen to talk radio.   I don't know how much more I can take and the election isn't until November!  It's still seven (7!) months away.

Please don't let me hear you say you're just not going to vote.  Don't be absolutely ridiculous by saying you'll vote for the opposing party's candidate!!!  That makes no sense!

As an example, let's say someone is for Obama.  They don't like the back and forth comments between Clinton and Obama.  That is not a reason to stop supporting your candidate!  I can hear it in your voice, you still want to see him win.

All the positions of the candidates are out there on their websites, YouTube speeches, newspapers, and campaign party headquarters in your area!  Don't let me hear you say you don't hear them discussing the issues.  They did in the debates, and they still do.  The media likes ratings so they put all this disagreeable stuff out there to supposedly attract you.  (And to make you do exactly what you're threatening to!!!)

If you are for one of the Democratic candidates and you are fed up with the comments but still are in line with the party's ideals, stay with that party!  Are you into self-punishment?  Especially after the past 7 years of Republican rule, war, torture, economic catastrophy, loss of freedoms, almost the end of America as we know and love it, you KNOW how important it is to get someone we can trust to put things back together.

This isn't the time to jump ship.  Don't let me down.  Your candidate would not want you to simply not vote, or worse yet, vote for the other party's candidate!  Hang in there.  It will be worth it.   Thomas Jefferson knew it was worth the fight.  So did George Washington.  And Martha Washington.

 Car and Traffic Stories

I went for a ride along the beach this morning for a change of scenery. It's a nice Santa Barbara morning, a bit hazy though, typical for warmer months. It is foggy for a few hours until the sun burns it off around lunchtime. Then the fog comes in again in the middle of the night with that sea breeze scent.

I parked along the beach to program the radio in my new (to me) car. Within about 5 minutes I turned to a station that was playing 'Harlem Nocturne'. Being mostly a rocker, I'm not familiar with many jazz tunes, but I love this one! Last year I heard a high school jazz band perform it at a jazz festival, with a talented young lady playing the saxophone with a smooth beauty to hook me into the song forever.

My older son is getting better each time we go for a practice drive session. I know he'll do great on his own.

Yesterday an older woman got the brake and gas pedals mixed up and floored it right into a pedestrian. I don't know her exact age, but I tell my sons to tell me (and I pray to God to let me know, too) if I get to the point that I might be a danger to someone else when I drive. I hate to hear these kind of stories. This has been a tough week for bicyclers and skateboarders, too. One cycler was hit by a car a few days ago and he is still comatose in the hospital. No arrest was made. It was just one of those accidents that happen. Maybe the bicycler was going too fast and not being very careful. Another kid was pinned underneat a car which dragged him along the street. A group of people actually lifted the van off of the skateboarder. He may have been lying down on the skateboard. Different stories emerge. I think he's OK.

Be safe!
