A silver Range Rover was speeding, tried to "make the light", and ended up about a yard from a pedestrian in the crosswalk and a bit further from a car. Pedestrian and car were crossing with the green light. A new Mercedes SUV sneaks at a 4-way stop in front of the Queen Mission. She sort of scoots along behind the car in front of her as she goes out of turn. Then a black SUV nearly hit me as it ran a stop. Fortunately, it had some great brakes.
Of course there are some really cool drivers out there, too. Hey, guy in the Nissan who stopped for the jaywalker near the cemetery on Hope, that was really neat of you. And thanks to the lady in the jr. hi. parking lot who let my VW bug slip between her car and the bus in the morning drop off derby.
Why don't these people who tailgate get tickets for it?
And we are a little closer to tearing down a neat old hospital in a really nice neighborhood so too many condos can be squeezed onto the site. I'm surprised the Catholics, who used to own that hospital, gave it up. But then they're supposedly strapped for cash lately, I guess. And the people bringing us this mess are the other hospital in town. Yes, their employees need local homes but causing this noise, pollution, and upheavel in the lives of so many neighbors, high school students, kids playing in the park, koi living in the pond in the park, and trees living peacefully on the site to be demolished is too cruel. At this point, most residents are not happy about this and the mucky-mucks with the Big hospital are stubborn and have their money burning holes in those deepest of pockets. They are probably secretly planning to name something after themselves..
What a shame the way things change...lulu
