Homeless: Streets of Santa Barbara

 Out of Iraq

Lyrics for Adults -

We study
history so we won't repeat it. Who was cutting classes? We need to end the occupation/war in the Middle East.

We need to remind our Senators and representatives in the House.

We spoke up 40 years ago and we can succeed again.

 Rainy Night - Rod Stewart

(Rod Stewart)

I didn't know what day it was
when you walked into the room
I said hello unnoticed
You said goodbye too soon

Breezing through the clientele
spinning yarns that were so lyrical
I really must confess right here
the attraction was purely physical

I took all those habits of yours
that in the beginning were hard to accept
Your fashion sense, Beardsly prints
I put down to experience

The big bosomed lady with the Dutch accent
who tried to change my point of view
Her ad lib lines were well rehearsed
but my heart cried out for you

Chorus:

You're in my heart, you're in my soul
You'll be my breath should I grow old
You are my lover, you're my best friend
You're in my soul

My love for you is immeasurable
My respect for you immense
You're ageless, timeless, lace and fineness
You're beauty and elegance

You're a rhapsody, a comedy
You're a symphony and a play
You're every love song ever written
But honey what do you see in me

(Chorus)

You're an essay in glamour
Please pardon the grammar
but you're every schoolboy's dream
You're Celtic, United, but baby I've decided
You're the best team I've ever seen

And there have been many affairs
Many times I've thought to leave
But I bite my lip and turn around
'cause you're the warmest thing I've ever found

(Chorus)

Instead of getting married again, I'm going to find a woman I don't like and just give her a house. - Rod Stewart

We know he was married again - to Alana Hamilton and Rachel Hunter and I may be missing someone or uninformed as to new developments.

 Animal Rescue Needs Our Help

Do you know about The Animal Rescue site?

All you need to do to help is go click.  Just for visiting, the sponsors provide shelter animals with food.  As long as you are by your computer, why not?

I myself go to the HungerSite, Rainforest, and each other place I can do some good.  I have heard some arguments that it amounts to very little, and so on.  A little is better than nothing.  It is free to you.  They have some neat gift items there, if you want to pick up a little something - necklace, bracelet, whatever.

I felt so grateful for making it through some tough times a few years ago that I asked what I could do in return...this turned out to be it.  I put a link to the page in my link list on the right.

Blessings,

 I Can't Drive 55

I received my e-mail newsletter from WreckedExotics.

I thought you might like to see a few of the photos. There are a lot of silver cars in these pix.

Above - a raceway, involved 14 cars! Yikes!

That reminds me to look for a driver education school for my 16 year old. For some reason, he hasn't been too anxious to get his driver's license. I remember getting my permit and license the first day I was eligible. He doesn't seem too concerned but I could use a break as the family chauffeur. It's a strange situation for me, too, since I've been in 3 car accidents which were caused by 17 year old male drivers.

As I was working on this, news came on the local radio station that the manslaughter trial is beginning for the man that hit Jake Boysel, killing him. The 24 year old man was driving a SUV and said the sun was in his eyes. I don't see why he would have been going so fast in that situation to hit a bicyclist, knocking the person's helmet and shoes off his body, and leaving the backpack embedded in the grill of the SUV. That made an awful photo for the first page of the local paper. What happened to that Santa Barbara "everyone's child" is the inspiration for my beginning this blog, my first. Jake's love of the beach, water sports, schools attended, and family made him everyone's son. We're all his parents and he was all of our sons, at least in Santa Barbara or, possibly, any other beach town. I wrote a post about Jake.

It is so easy to be distracted while driving but too much depends on our driving responsibly. The drivers in town who are around college age are usually the most careless. I think drivers over 65 need to have stricter monitoring by the Department of Motor Vehicles, too. By that age, so many are on medications that slow reflexes or cause confusion. There are too many accidents involving older drivers who get the brake and gas pedals mixed up, and they drive into a shop or house.

Blessings and Be Safe, Lulublue

 Easter Sunday

Hello, and Happy Easter! I'm going to my mother-in-law's house for a barbeque after a while. My sons will be there. My ex won't be there. He'll be with his girlfriend's family (the girlfriend deserving the sympathy card! We all get along.)

Last night I was playing around with my Yahoo 360 page. I got my own radio station launched. Playlist includes Nirvana, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Stone Temple Pilots, AC/DC, Zep., VHalen, Hendrix. I must remember to add Smashing Pumpkins. My Yahoo ID is lagunahuna if you'd like to visit.

My son and I went to the harbor a few days ago.

As we walked to the end of the breakwater, we could see a sea lion sitting in a shallow pool by the boulders. It was really cute!

The sea lion sat there for at least 20 minutes. We were very close to her and it was like looking into the face of a dog, in a way. I felt like I could just go, "Come here" and pat my hand on my thigh, and it would come right to me.

We saw 2 crabs using sign language as we were walking, too. One of them was missing it's large claw. The other one was waving it's large claw around, as if talking in sign language!

There were plenty of sea birds. I'm not sure what kind this was; I should look it up. There was a swallow flying around among the boulders, under the piers, and along the breakwater where we were walking. They migrate into the area about this time of year and build their nests of mud against upper corners of structures, like eaves of houses, etc.

The "Lil Toot" shuttle boat went out. One of my favorite things to do it lean over the sea wall, or sit on it, and see the waves crash on the boulders.

The pale green of the sea foam (which glows at night!) is a beautiful color. I love to watch the ocean.

I like to sit on the sand at night, watching the sea foam, especially when the moon is full and moonlight is sparkling on the water. It is so awe-inspiring and things are put in perspective. Just being in natural surroundings is such a healing experience; we all need to do more of it.

A whale-watching boat went out while we were there. A 15 foot whale was cruising around inside the harbor a couple of weeks ago, a grey whale, I think.

We left because I had an eye doctor appointment. I got to test my driving skills on the way out. A delivery truck parked very close to the back of my VW, but there was enough room to back and turn then stay in reverse to round the front of the truck. It's fun to drive a VW because you can get out of insane places! The truck driver mouthed the words "I'm sorry" as I went by. I felt like thanking him for the great opportunity to boost my self-esteem. When it was time for the doctor appointment, I couldn't find my keys so I called to postpone. We found the keys in the car about an hour later.

Hope you enjoy the photos of the harbor and have a good Easter Sunday! Before Christianity celebrated resurrection, there were events or mythologies surrounding the death/sacrifice/crucifixion of Osiris, Attis, Krishna, Quetzlcoatl, and many other dieties, masculine and feminine. The word Easter is from Estre, Esther, Ostara (pagan), and notice the similarity to estres, estrogen! It's the rebirth/new life thang.
