Ron Paul is getting a lot of attention for his stand against our military staying in Iraq. How does he stand on the other issues?

Today was one of those ones that left me feeling grateful.
I like to think that what started it off this way was when I drove to the store and gave someone else the right-of-way because he would have had a long wait to make a left turn if I didn't. He looked slightly shocked, then sped off while waving a thank you. I arrived home with 5 bags of groceries. It would take 2 trips up and down the stairs. As I was trudging up on my first run, I sensed the FedEx guy a few yards behind me. I asked him which apartment he was looking for and he said my number. I didn't expect this at all but he then turned and picked up the remainder of my grocery bags. I already knew what was in the box he left - a 'new' cell phone to replace the 'bad' one I'd reactivated last week. I thanked him and wished him a great day. I took up the same activity I'd left before leaving for the store - CourtTV was showing the trial of 2 men charged with murder. One man was 20 and one was 40. They were accused of drag racing, which led to the death of a high school girl and severe burns suffered by her life-long friend. The girls had been waiting at a stop light in their Honda when the 20 year old in the souped-up Mustang crashed into their car. It sounds like he left the 40 year old in the Viper a ways back to witness what he'd instigated. A 40 year old guy running around town challenging others to a race! He should have known better at that age. This happened in Tennessee. Just one night before her death, the girl was crowned as homecoming queen.I can't imagine how it must feel to lose a child in that way or to have your daughter scarred for life. I pray I never have to know. Why do guys have to race? Cortney Hensley and her sister in a photo taken the night she was crowned homecoming queen. Then I turned on my computer and went to Yahoo news. There was a photo and story about a little girl who will have surgery to remove the extra arms and legs she was born with. It is staggering to think of how many things could go wrong in the months that a new life spends forming and growing in it's mother's womb. I'm so grateful that my 2 boys are plain ol' kids. My high schooler is working late because a play opens this weekend and he is earning community service credits for graduation. He lifts the curtain. My 12 year old is camping on Santa Cruz Island off the coast of Southern California with his middle school class. I hope he gets to see the island foxes (the size of a cat) or a spotted skunk (from a distance!). I hope the Dramamine worked and he's warm enough. Yeah, my muscles hurt most all of the day because of fibromyalgia, I don't have the energy to put away 4 pillow cases full of clean laundry, my right wrist is very sore and it's hard to use the computer. The numbers on my scale are too high and the numbers on my checking account balance are too low but I feel very lucky tonight.

Since Santa Barbara is fairly close to Los Angeles, about an hour and a half on the freeway, 'stars' have always been seen around here. In fact one of the very first movie studios was in Santa Barbara, the good old Flying A.
Quite a few celebs live in Montecito, too, which is a few miles south of SB. Everybody has celeb stories around here. No one really bothers anybody for photos or autographs, either. Sort of like bees, if you leave them alone, they'll leave you alone. (I ain't saying who the bees are, either!)
I did hear a 'story' from my neighbor that is the kind of thing I'm tempted to broadcast, though. A popular singer has appeared in Santa Barbara a few times in recent years. She went into a restaurant where 'neighbor's friend' works. Apparently, when approached by an employee to see where the singer wanted to be seated, without hearing the question the singer said something like, "Oh, please don't ask me for an autograph."If a celeb ever said that to me, I'd ask them why I'd ever want their autograph. With an attitude like the singer's, we just might be watching her fall from grace in a few more years. That does not make one the kind of performer that has a legion of faithful fans for life.Celebrity parents are always an interesting topic. I've seen a few, like Kathy Ireland (even prettier in person!) out skating with her little ones and she seems to be a really neat mom. She has done a lot of good, charitable things with her celebrity. She definitely leaves the planet someday a much better place. It must be difficult being the child of a celeb. It's a lot to live up to when you're compared to your dads' movies and stardom. As far as females go, sometimes I see a photo of a mom holding her baby, mom's hair perfect, lipstick lined with precision, lovely dress with heels. Who does she think she's kidding? That is a photo op shot! In one particular photo, the mom looked like she was as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room of rocking chairs. She looked as stiff as a board. The nanny grabbed that kid within seconds after the photographer finished up. Thank your lucky stars for not being in the limelight (if you aren't). If you get busted for DUI, get a divorce, or lose custody of your children, you'll get to smooth your ruffled feathers in private, without your pictures surrounding the check-out counters of stores everywhere!
